AI is one of the most popular topics nowadays, and it will play a very important role in our daily lives and the future. Dr.Yang, from Brooklyn University also discussed AI and Computer Science with parents and students. In the meeting, he states that through the development of AI, many occupations where people repeatedly work on the same thing every single day will eventually be replaced or changed by AI. In the future, humans will focus on jobs that require creativity. One thing Dr.Yang likes about AI is that it helps to create an open source culture. Big companies like Facebook, Google and Microsoft all developed their own AI technology which contributed to open source culture as it allows information to be shared and makes communication easier. Dr.Yang also discussed his point of view towards Computer Science(CS) in the meeting. Dr.Yang started learning CS at 6 years old, since he’s very interested in it, yet he does not recommend students taking advanced courses of CS at elementary school and middle school. He claims that it is more important for students to develop their interest and learn the basic language of CS which allows them to “communicate” with their computer. Dr.Yang is very optimistic towards the future of CS, the count of SAT scores is starting to decrease, which means college is more and more interested on student’s creativity or other abilities. Learning CS is a great example to show it. The future of the student who majors as CS is also very good, they are very likely to be accepted by big companies and get a good job after graduation.
